“Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it” Haruki Murakami

Legacy End of Life helps people and families navigate the dying process and death in the way that best suits them. Legacy operates from the perspective that preparing for death can ease the turbulence caused by death and grief. Through planning, projects, and grounded presence, Legacy strives to support people as they plan for the end of life.

Meet the Doula

After experiencing the loss of a partner in 2020, Kaitlyn Cox was inspired to dive into the deeply human work of learning about death and helping others navigate dying and grief. Kaitlyn started Legacy End of Life Care as a way to connect her experiences and passion for end of life care to real world service and help.

As a Doula, Kaitlyn is passionate about normalizing the concept of a “good death” and using tools like advanced planning, legacy projects, informed consent, and being a witness to help individuals create the conditions for a “good death”. Kaitlyn uses empathy, active listening skills, respect, and creativity to fulfill her clients wishes. Additionally, she is a caretaker, Certified Nursing Assistant, and has completed several death Doula training courses.

Outside of work, Kaitlyn is a Bay Area native residing in Oakland. She is a parent who enjoys roller skating, gardening, and soaking up life’s precious moments.
